I used to cuss a lot too and am ashamed of myself for falling into that pattern at work. Now I realize there are many more words that are more powerful than the cussing. One of our AIM team members wrote and was upset that Betsy had given credit for a posting that he had sent to her several times and he feels that he was being ignored. He is a valued member of our team so we are going to chalk this up to a misunderstanding. However, the answer is something that we wish to share with all of you who think your emails go unread, unnoticed.
Our Reply:
Chris, I am sorry if I missed something here. I can’t read through everything and catch all the details with the volume of work I have in front of me each day. Even now I have no clue what you are referring to. I have a team of talent spanning across the globe that sends me material each day – all of which has to be vetted. Plus there are the researchers in the Conclave and mines that constantly need attention for finalizing their work in a way that is presentable to our readers. On top of that, I have to grocery shop, fix dinner, do the laundry….we have 2 of our 7 children quarantined with us which adds extra household drama. Yesterday, the furnace went out, filling the bottom of our basement with water — so I had to take time “off” to find a repair technician to come to the house…which won’t happen until this morning.
PLUS – although we are retired, we still have some operational businesses with over 70 employees where I have been working around the clock to preserve their wages through the PPP and take care of senior staff who are having to interface with customers and employees in these challenging times, as well as preserve the future of our operations.
Then – just when I sit down FINALLY at the end of the day, Douglas tells me he has two pages of notes to upload to a B&T audio – so there is another 1 1/2 hour to sit with him to record…then I have to process and upload. By 10:00 p.m., I can finally sit down and try to catch up with leading headlines and create a special reading experience in the next Cat Report. Then rise and shine by 4:30 a.m. and start over again.
To those in our audience: We have a saying down in Tallahassee, folks: A man works from sun to sun, but a woman’s work is never done.
